Generics Awareness Month: "Tatlong Dekada: GEnerics, Abot Kamay... Abot Kaya!"
Generics Awareness Month is celebrated every month of September pursuant to Republic Act No. 6675 or the Generics Act of 1988. The said celebration aims to promote and ensure the distribution, use and acceptance of drugs and medicines identified by their generic names. As part of the current administration’s thrust, which is to provide quality, affordable and accessible healthcare services for Filipinos, this year’s theme: “Tatlong Dekada: Generics, Abot Kamay…. Abot Kaya! accentuates the necessity of instilling public awareness on the availability of low cost, safe and essential quality generic medicines.
With this, the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMHMC) Pharmacy Section, spearheaded a night fun run activity at Sea Boulevard, Barangay Pangil, Currimao, Ilocos Norte last September 22, 2018 with a total number of 244 registrants. The event was a success since it was participated by various groups and organizations like the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) - College of Pharmacy, City Government of Batac (CGB), Drugstore Association of the Philippines-Ilocos Norte Chapter, Ilocos Norte Pharmacists Association, Young Pharmacists Group-Ilocos Norte Chapter, Spartans Group of Laoag City and MMMH&MC employees.
The 5 kilometer run that was joined by 244 runners was conquered by three victors. The three winners were all from Candon, Ilocos Sur namely; Eifram Inigo (1st place), Rick Bougarin and Ace Hipona (2nd and 3rd place respectively).
At the end of this successful event, the MMMH&MC continues to assent the challenge to innovate and come up with timely and relevant activities to further fortify the implementation of different programs and projects of the Department of Health (DOH) and the hospital that surely contributes to the reinforcement of our service delivery network (SDN).
