The visit aims to assess the availability and capacities of health services provided by these facilities based on the standards stipulated in the Universal Health Care (UHC). It allows in the determination of other health services or activities needed by the community at large. Likewise, it also aims to strengthen the health care provider network system that offers people-centered and comprehensive care in an integrated and coordinated manner resulting to improved referral system.
 
Dr. Ma. Lourdes Otayza, MMMH&MC’s Medical Center Chief, stated that “as the apex hospital for this catchment area of about 5M people from the northwesternmost quad of our country, we are mandated to provide technical assistance to facilitate the implementation of UHC. It is essential that we listen to what our health constituents need and want in order for us to be relevant. We should do our best to complement to fill up service gaps. To train and transfer skills so that the patient feels the help at home, by way of upgrading the health care provider network.”
EMPOWERED MMMH&MC FOR MONKEYPOX INFECTION

Last August 17 and 18, 2022, series of lectures were given to our chosen frontliners in the diagnosis and treatment, detection, infection control measures, surveillance and reporting of Monkeypox.
 
This is a collective effort activity of the IPCC core team in the pursuit of its objective in the prevention and containment of infectious diseases in the hospital.

August is National Breastfeeding Month — a month dedicated to advancing advocacy, protection, and promotion of breastfeeding to ensure that all families have the opportunity to breastfeed. The Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, Mother Baby Friendly Hospital Initiatives Committee, Department of Pediatrics, and Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology celebrate National Breastfeeding Month this August 22, 2022 with the theme, “Sama-samang Itaguyod Tamang Kaalaman Kalinga sa Pagpapasuso.”

Together, hand in hand, we must take our part to promote breastfeeding among nursing, pregnant and future mothers as well as their families to ensure quality newborn health.

With the government’s directive of providing accessible, equitable, affordable and quality health care is ensured and maintained, the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) conducted facility visits to Sinait District Hospital and Gabriela Silang General Hospital in Ilocos Sur on August 24, 2022, Wednesday.
