Mr. Bryle Lancelot Abad, the Sanguniang Kabataan Chairperson of Brgy Magnuang, City of Batac invited the team to provide a lecture on suicide as part of their Mental Health Awareness Campaign on February 25, 2019. Because of our benevolent Medical Center Chief, Dr. Maria Lourdes K. Otayza, her support directed mental health advocates: Mr. Gold Mendoza, Ms. Ethel Jane Malicad, Mr. Emmanuel Eric Rasco, Ms. Jennifer Sapaden, Ms. Vivien Eunice Marquez and Ms. Abigail Cabanos.

 The program started at 9 in the morning in which members of the Baranggay Council showed their heartfelt welcome and appreciation. Upon arrival at the venue, registration of participants simultaneously done with the distribution of IECs such as 12S Against Stress and Suicide Awareness. 204 pieces were distributed and 120 individuals aging from 12 to 50 years of age attended the said lecture.
To energize the partakers, a Zumba was led by Ms. Abigail Cabanos. Then followed by Ms. Ethel Jane Malicad who delivered the lecture on 12 S Against Stress. Participants listened considerately and enthusiastically contributed in the discussions. Fight Stress with a dozen of ‘S’ is encouraged by the Department of Health to have effective ways of coping with stress. Mr. Gold Mendoza discussed the second part of the lecture, which, focused on suicide awareness. The participants were delighted on how the lecturer highlighted his prowess as an educator. The smile on their faces reminds us of one of the characteristics of Ilocanos, resilient.
Meanwhile, Ms. Vivien Marquez exhibited artistry as she painted the wall with the team’s campaign “You matter; choose to keep going.” Palmprints from the participants completed a heart shape tinted with compassion and optimism. This advocacy shall flourish to communities, government and non-government organizations and even schools towards a mentally healthy Ilocandia.
