NATIONAL BREASTFEEDING MONTH
August is National Breastfeeding Month — a month dedicated to advancing advocacy, protection, and promotion of breastfeeding to ensure that all families have the opportunity to breastfeed. (NICHQ) The 2022 theme for World Breastfeeding Week, ‘Step up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support', seeks to involve governments, communities, and individuals. (WHO)
The Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, Mother Baby Friendly Hospital Initiatives Committee, Department of Pediatrics, and Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology celebrate National Breastfeeding Month this August 22, 2022 with the theme, “Sama-samang Itaguyod Tamang Kaalaman Kalinga sa Pagpapasuso.”
“Breastfeeding is a mother’s gift to herself, her baby, and the Earth.” - Pamela K. Wiggins
Together, hand in hand, we must take our part to promote breastfeeding among nursing, pregnant and future mothers as well as their families to ensure quality newborn health.
